Armco Asbestos Consultants have scheduled their next Asbestos Awareness and Works with Non-Licensed Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM’s) training session for Tuesday, 29th January 2013 at Bury Business Centre, Kay Street, Bury, BL9 6BU. This is easily accessed from many areas including Bury, Bolton, Greater Manchester and Lancashire.

The Control of Asbestos Regulations (2012) legally binds employers to comply with Regulation 10, which states ‘every employer shall ensure that adequate information, instruction and training is given to those of his employees who are liable to be exposed to asbestos or who supervise such employees’. Any workers who demolish or refurbish properties built before the year 2000 are likely to come into contact with asbestos. Our Asbestos Awareness training course educates workers on the history of asbestos, what is looks like and, when and how it was used in building. The attendee would be taught how to identify asbestos and the correct procedure to follow to deal with asbestos correctly. The cost of the three hour Asbestos Awareness training is £65 per person plus VAT.

The full day Works with Non-Licensed ACM’s training is made up of the ½ day Asbestos Awareness and is then followed by an afternoon session covering non-licensed ACM’s. Various asbestos products are considered low risk and therefore non-licensed, such as asbestos cement, floor tiles and texture coating. Such materials have been deemed low risk by the HSE and therefore any remedial works do not require a license. The materials still harbor some risk and therefore those undertaking such remedial works must be trained in working with such ACM’s. This training is applicable to those whose work will knowingly disturb asbestos containing materials. The cost is a mere £175 per person plus VAT.

This training would enable those trained to undertake the work outlined in the HSE publication “Asbestos Essentials” and therefore be considered competent contractors in the removal or repair of low risk non-licensed asbestos. The training covers the following points:

· How to make suitable and sufficient assessments of the risk of exposure to asbestos;

· The control limit;

· The appropriate choice and use of RPE and PPE;

· Decontamination procedures;

· Work which requires an HSE license;

· Emergency procedures;

· Waste handling procedures.

The training is provided by fully qualified and friendly professionals and at a very competitive price. Contact the Armco office on 0161 761 4424 for further details.
