Frequently asked questions

Here at Armco Asbestos Training, we are often asked questions relating to asbestos training.  So we’ve put this page together and compiled a list of our most frequently asked questions for you:-

Do I need asbestos training?

If you are a Tradesmen or labourer that may come into contact with asbestos materials on a regular basis as part of your work, then you will most definitely need to have asbestos awareness training, and works with non licensed asbestos containing materials training.  You will also need to have asbestos refresher training on a yearly basis.

Your employer has a duty to arrange asbestos training for you and their other employees, as it is their legal responsibility to ensure that their workers receive the correct and appropriate training.

Once you have completed an asbestos training course, you will receive a certificate from your training provider as proof of having completed the asbestos training.  This can then be kept on your training file.

Even if you have already completed asbestos training, you will still need to ensure that you carry out a risk assessment before commencing any job that will involve you coming into contact with asbestos materials.

What asbestos training courses do you offer?

At Armco asbestos training, we offer a range of courses for self employed people and companies who require asbestos training.

The training courses take place at our training centre in Bury near Manchester, or we can travel to anywhere in the UK.  We even offer online asbestos training  for your convenience at just £35.

The main course we provide is for asbestos awareness training where we can deliver asbestos training for up to 15 delegates at once.  Prices start at £55 per delegate (at our in house training centre in Bury)

The other main courses we offer are for Works with non licensed asbestos containing materials training and asbestos awareness refresher training.  Also, as an add-on to each course, we provide face fit testing which starts at just £35 for one person.

All of our asbestos training courses are IATP certified (Independent Asbestos Training Providers) and you will be issued with a certificate upon completion which will last for 12 months before you will need to take a refresher course.

How long does the asbestos training course take?

Our Asbestos Awareness and works with non licensed training courses last for approximately 3 hours each depending on how many people are in the training session.

Are your training courses taught by professional Trainers?

Yes!  Our asbestos Trainers not only have many, many years of experience of working in the building and construction industry as Asbestos Surveyors, but they have also acquired a great amount of knowledge on the subject of asbestos as well as having gained professional industry standard qualifications, including BOHS qualifications and various accreditations such as CHAS.
