Have You Heard About Our Face Fit Testing?

Looking for professional face fit testing services? Proper respiratory protective equipment (RPE) is essential for workplace safety, especially when dealing with hazardous substances like asbestos. Here’s why Armco should be your first choice for face fit testing in your area across the UK.

Why Face Fit Testing Matters

The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations of 2002 emphasise that RPE effectiveness depends on achieving a proper seal between the wearer’s skin and the mask. Additionally, the approved code of practice for the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 specifically recommends face fit testing for all respiratory protective equipment.

According to regulations, employers must ensure that selected face pieces are the suitablefor each wearer. Initial selection includes proper fit testing for tight-fitting face pieces, and that anyone conducting fit testing is competent to do so.

Without proper testing, your RPE may not provide the protection you think it does, potentially exposing workers to dangerous substances.

Why Choose Armco for Face Fit Testing?

When it comes to face fit testing, Armco Asbestos Training stands out with over 15 years of experience working with asbestos. We have completed face fit testing for over 1,000 individuals in the past three years alone. Our Fit2Fit Accreditation ensures our testing meets the highest standards with affordable pricing, and high-capacity testing for up to 40 people in a single day.

When Should Face Fit Testing Be Conducted?

Face fit testing of tight-fitting respirators is necessary whenever RPE is used as a safety measure. Additionally, repeat testing should be performed if the wearer loses or gains enough weight to change their facial shape, undergoes substantial dental work or develops facial scars, moles or other changes that could affect mask fit.

While workers can use other face pieces of the same type, make, model and size once they have passed a test, any masks with a different make, model or size requires new testing. For asbestos-related work, annual retesting is recommended to ensure continued protection.

Additional Services

Beyond face fit testing, we also offer a comprehensive ” Train the Tester to Face Fit ” course for organisations looking to develop in-house capabilities for RPE training.
