Armco are holding two Asbestos Awareness training sessions this October: 2nd and 9th October 2012 both at 9.00 a.m. at Bury Business Centre, Kay Street, Bury, BL0 9HL.
The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 states that it is mandatory for anyone who is likely to disturb asbestos containing material’s to have received adequate training. If you work in any of the following occupations plus many more, and are working on a building built or refurbished before 2000, you may come in to contact with asbestos:
• Demolition workers;
• Carpenters and joiners;
• Roofing contractors;
• Painters and decorators;
• Construction workers;
• Fire and burglar alarm installers;
• Shop fitters;
• Gas fitters;
• Computer installers;
• General maintenance staff eg caretakers;
• Telecommunications engineers;
• Building surveyors;
• Cable layers;
• Heating and Ventilation Engineers.
Our Asbestos Awareness training course educates workers on the history of asbestos, what is looks like and, when and how it was used in building. The attendee would be taught how it identify asbestos and the correct procedure to follow to deal with asbestos correctly. This ensures that they safeguard themselves, other workers, customers and the general public from the inhalation of asbestos fibres, which can potentially lead to life threatening respiratory disease.
The course is delivered as an oral presentation with power point slides and written material. The candidates are presented with a certificate we also provide yearly refresher training session.
